AGNEEPATH…!!!! _ MCG Fiasco…!!!

MCG had once again witnessed a boxing day test match victory for AUSTRALIA. 200% they clinched a well deserving victory, and TEAM INDIA had to blame only on themselves, having put they OZ top order under the mat, it just gave away too many runs to the lower order batsman 333 in the first and 230 odd in the second do not indicate a mammoth score on the cards but on the course of the match these runs leaked played a big spoil sport.

On analyzing the loss of the match, it tells the same old story of INDIA LETTING THE TAIL TO WAG TOO MUCH…!!!, OZ were off the hook…!!!!

The approach of MSD towards the field placing for tail is too heartening, I really can’t find any reason why he is setting a defensive field to them. The approach of the bowlers needs a serious mention, people often say that Indian bowlers started feeling complacent after removing the top-order, but it was not so, as quoted by
sunny gavaskar,
“The Indian bowlers keep bowling the same line and length to the tail which they grabbed the top-order, the problem here is since they do not play like an established batsman those good deliveries will often beat the bat or may edge it for a boundary, 9/10 deliveries they’ll throw their bat, making the captain to adopt a defensive plot. But surely this is not going to win matches, instead the bowlers need to a bit fuller and ably supported by an attacking field set.”
If a front line batsman is playing alongside, we need to stop giving easy singles to him and that really added spine to the Indian team in the first innings (SIDDLE/HADDIN partnership)much for the delight of the oz dressing room.

As far as the batting department is concerned the Indian players really failed to convert the starts in the first innings, we were very much on the race, after a SUPERB LAUNCH PAD PROVIDED BY VIRU in the beginning, it was left to the most experienced TRIO (RAHUL, SACHIN, LAXMAN)in the middle order to take India to a vital lead in the first innings, but the MCG spectators need to witness other way, as MSD always says, “test matches should be approached session by session”, the three sessions on the first day was pretty much on the balance, on the second day last two sessions completely belonged to Indians, barring sachin’s dismissal in the last over of the day. From day3 onwards oz started to cut loose wrapping all the Indian wickets, interestingly Indian bowlers rise up to the occasion restricting OZ to 27/4, from then on it was left to the senior pro’s punter n hussey(who were under the axe) to start the resurgence and they did well, and after the dismissal of ponting India should have bowled smart and wrap the tail which they fail to do. Then came the heartening issue the great Indian toporder bundled out a big collapse as usual, including the 4th innings man and Australia ’s  thorn laxman, ashwin tried his best to decrease the margin of defeat, but his efforts were not supported ably as Indian team succumbed to a 122 run defeat. Team india lived up to their tag of being “poor starters”.

Time has answers whether SCG(SACHIN’S FAVOURITE GROUND, where he have a whoomping average of 222.5) can change india’s fortunes and make a comeback…??
Downunder series is a pretty long one we cannot afford to lose hope too soon..!!! Duncan Fletcher is under series heat, Indian team having a 5th straight overseas defeat after he took charge.
Time for the Indian champions to raise up to the occasion.
